Job Overview
We are seeking a Wellness Navigator to provide HIV/STI testing, sexual health education, benefits navigation, barrier mitigation, and navigation to PrEP, PEP, and related clinical services within The Pride Center’s sexual health program.

This role serves as a primary access point to care, supporting clients from initial testing and engagement through linkage to services and ongoing retention. The Wellness Navigator works across clinic and community settings to ensure individuals at risk for HIV and STIs are connected to prevention and treatment resources in a timely and supportive manner.

This role requires the ability to build rapport quickly, demonstrate cultural responsiveness, and maintain attention to detail while guiding individuals through care processes. This position requires comfort working in both clinical and community-based environments, including nontraditional venues, with flexibility for evenings and weekends.

This position is part-time. One full-time position is listed separately.

Duties

  • Provide rapid HIV testing and support STI screening in clinic and community-based settings in accordance with established protocols and standards.
  • Deliver pre- and post-test counseling, including risk assessment, prevention education, and evaluation for PrEP and other services.
  • Facilitate timely linkage to care, including scheduling clinic appointments, coordinating laboratory services, and supporting follow-up.
  • Provide PrEP and PEP navigation, assisting clients with enrollment, initiation, and ongoing engagement in services.
  • Assist clients with insurance navigation, medication assistance programs, and other resources to support access to care.
  • Conduct targeted outreach in community settings and participate in events to engage individuals in testing and prevention services.
  • Provide culturally responsive education on HIV/STIs, sexual health, harm reduction, and available services.
  • Support clients in navigating barriers to care, including transportation, stigma, and system access.
  • Maintain accurate, complete, and timely documentation of all services and client interactions in accordance with program and compliance requirements.
  • Collaborate with clinical staff, outreach teams, and program leadership to ensure seamless client flow and continuity of care.
  • Support clinic and outreach operations, including preparation for events, materials management, and participation in team meetings and quality improvement activities.

Requirements

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; associate or bachelor’s degree in public health, social services, or a related field preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum 2–3 years of experience in direct client/patient engagement required. Qualifying experience may include community health, healthcare navigation, HIV prevention, or related fields.
  • HIV Testing: This role includes the provision of rapid HIV testing in both clinic and community settings.
  • Testing Certification: Currently hold or have the ability to obtain Florida HIV 500/501 Testing Certification within a required timeframe if not currently certified.
  • Phlebotomy: This role requires the performance of venipuncture and specimen collection. Candidates without current competency must obtain training and demonstrate proficiency within a timeframe established by the organization upon hire.
  • Engagement & Communication: Demonstrated ability to build rapport quickly, communicate effectively, and discuss sexual health comfortably in diverse settings.
  • Navigation Skills: Ability to support clients through healthcare systems, including scheduling, referrals, and access to services.
  • Cultural Competency: Experience working with LGBTQ+ populations and diverse communities, with a commitment to culturally responsive and affirming care.
  • Documentation: Ability to maintain accurate, timely, and compliant documentation in an electronic system.
  • Work Environment: Ability to work in both clinic and field-based settings, including community venues and nontraditional settings, with flexibility for evenings and weekends.
  • Transportation: Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation required.
  • Level II Florida AHCA Background Screening: Candidates must successfully pass a fingerprint-based Level II background check as a condition of employment. This screening is mandatory with no exceptions and must be cleared through the Florida Agency for Health Care Administration (AHCA) Clearinghouse before assuming duties.
